Traditionally chlorine is used for disinfection of the water.
A disadvantage is that only 50 % of the Chlorine is really used for disinfection;
the rest of the chlorine transfers after some time to clorine- amines, which
are dangerous for people's health and cause the well known chlorine odor. When
using the triple-O system, the use of chlorine will be strongly reduced. Besides
the chlorine and ozone intensify another; because of this the chlorine is used
almost completely and no chlorine-amines are formed anymore. Further the water
quality will be better and the need for refreshing water is lower, which results
in big costs savings.
Fish- and meat processing industry
The process water in the fish- and meat processing industry
contains amongst others a lot of proteins. This is a perfect nutrition for bacteria.
Especially in this kind of industry there are very strict regulations for the
allowed amount of bacteria. By injecting Ozone directly into the process pipelines
or basins, the amount of bacteria is reduced significantly and stays within
the regulations.
Cooling tower systems
In some production
processes the cooling tower water contains a high amount of "nutrients", resulting
in bacteria growth. As result of this you can have slime in the water, causing
big problems in the cooling system. Injecting ozone in the water kills the bacteria
and prevents these problems
Drinking water / mineral water
Besides the disinfecting effect of the ozone, it also removes
unwished smell and taste compounds. This improves the taste of the water.
Seed disinfection (dry method)
Filtermat Holland developed a special patented method for disinfecting
seeds (like cauliflower).
In this way the bacteria that cause diseases, like blackrot, will be killed
effectively.
